I was in San Antonio for the first time on a brief work trip. There was much to do along the River Walk! Even got to check out the Alamo!
The Alamo - https://www.nps.gov/places/mission-san-antonio-de-valero-3rd-site-the-alamo.htm San Antonio River Walk - https://www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com/ I was down at James Madison for a work trip and they called for significant snow! I got up early to capture some photos before running to a presentation and unfortunately the snow missed JMU. I still captured a nice early morning image of the football stadium!
Northern Virginia saw it's first accumulative snowfall in several years! I wandered through Old Town Alexandria and Occoquan, VA to capture the beautiful towns covered in snow!
Old Town Alexandria - visitalexandria.com/old-town/ Town of Occoquan - www.occoquanva.gov/ The DMV is filled with incredible holiday lights! This year I captured photos of trees and menorahs in Occoquan, VA; Manassas, VA; Alexandria, VA; and Washington DC!
Places I visited:
I traveled to San Diego, CA to surprise my brother for his birthday. On the last of the trip, we did some light fishing and I captured some photos of the sunset that evening.
I traveled to James Madison University for a work event. It was the first time I had traveled to JMU with my camera. It was an amazing place to shoot!
James Madison University - www.jmu.edu/index.shtml One of the most underrated times to talk out the Cherry Blossom trees in DC is in October. The way the colors change with the Fall Foliage, is in my opinion, one of the best times to see the trees. The colors make the whole area pop! The best part... There are no crowds!
Vietnam Veterans Memorial - www.nps.gov/vive/index.htm Tidal Basin - www.nps.gov/articles/dctidalbasin.htm During Covid, I saw an image of the Linn Cove Viaduct on a Microsoft Screensaver and told myself I'd eventually drive down to it to capture a similar picture. What turned into that trip was a week long solo photography trip where I camped out most of the week and drove all throughout the Appalachian Regions of Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia. During the trip I drove through Shenandoah National Park; Covington, VA; New River Gorge, Blue Ridge Parkway, and more! Definitely a trip I plan to do again some day!
Places Visited:
Each year, Burnside Farms has a Sunflower Festival. This year, they added firework shows on Friday and Saturday nights. The sunflowers with the sunset fireworks looked amazing!
Burnside Farms Summer of Sunflowers - https://www.burnsidefarms.com/summe The past few years, I have gone to the Netherlands Carillion to take photos of the 4th of July fireworks. Each year it gets more crowded, so I decided to try out a new spot along the Mount Vernon Trail. This is the best spot I have ever found for the fireworks! No crowds and easy to get to! And the show was great too!
